Inside information can make millionaires
Four-lane highways are being built around Chiang Mai. Here’s how to make a lot of money from the project.
Get inside info from government officials about the proposed route, go to the landowners along the route and offer to buy their property. Of course, you don’t tell them that you know about the planned highway.
If they say they don’t want to sell, ask them to name their price. Then, when you get the land, immediately hire tractors to remove anything green, then subdivide the property into small parcels and put numbered signs on each one.
Then sit back and wait a while for the government to come to you with offers to buy the land.
If the land was still in the hands of the original owner, the government would have offered about Bt200,000 per rai.
But because the land was bought, and the buyer spent about Bt30,000 “improving” it and dividing it into small parcels, the price offered would be much higher – up to Bt3 million per rai.
And viola! The new owner has made lots of money.
The government may pretend it knows nothing of the ruse, and certain government officials will not mind the money slipped into their pockets.
Everybody will be happy except for the farmer who was hoodwinked into selling his land for next to nothing, and the taxpayers who are funding a government that is corrupt.
