Federer Cruises Past Berdych Into Semis
Third seed Roger Federer of Switzerland trounced Tomas Berdych of the Czech Republic 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 6-4 to advance into the men’s singles quarter-finals of the Australian Open on Tuesday
The former champion was briefly tested by the world No 6 in the opening set before he got into the groove and won the remaining sets comfortably at the Rod Laver Arena.
Federer will wait a winner between world No 2 Andy Murray of Great Britain and Japanese Kei Nishikori in the semi-final scheduled on Thursday.
