Blind faith finds fresh pitfalls

Blind faith finds fresh pitfalls

George Orwell wrote “1984” in 1949, inspired by Nazism, and at a time when belief in the fascist doctrine was paramount and perceived truth was heretical. The Nazi’s propaganda minister, Joseph Goebbels, said that if Hitler wanted 2+2 to equal 5, then so

Orwell’s novel portrays a dystopian society where faith rather than fact takes precedent, enabling the elite powers to control not only the future but the past as well. Currently in the US the imposed educational curriculum, Common Core, is very much along the lines predicted by Orwell, with government and large corporations controlling education.
The intention is to “level down”, so that everyone is equal and there are no winners or losers. It’s all about sameness. The truth that 2+2=4 is far less important than achieving unanimity among students in believing that 2+2=5.
The dumbing-down is such that university professor Duke Pesta compares the academic ability of today’s college graduate to that of a high-school student of the 1950s. As long as Bill Gates is funding Common Core, he says, it will never produce another Bill Gates. He calls the situation “communism”. And meanwhile the students’ computer screens have camcorders monitoring their behaviour.
Those behind Common Core are prodding the UN to extend the curriculum globally. Perhaps the New World Order shouldn’t be so readily dismissed as a conspiracy theory.
