TACC to sell Sanrio cartoon-character products

TAC CONSUMER (TACC), exclusive distributor of ready-to-drink tea and coffee in 7-Eleven stores, yesterday announced its newly diversified business selling food and non-food products under five cartoon characters of the Sanrio group.

“The new products are expected to be on sale by August after the company inked a deal with Sanrio on April 29 for distributing these licensed products,” said Chatchawee Wattanasook, chairman of TACC’s executive board.
The five cartoon characters |are Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kerokerokeroppi, Pompompurin and Bad Badtz-Maru.
As a key strategic partner of CP All, operator of 7-Eleven convenience stores, Chatchawee said TACC was allowed to sell the licensed products, which would cover five groups: stationery, non-food items such as cups, coil wallets and key chains, cosmetics, beverages, and processed food.
He said the contract would last for five months, from August 1 to December 31. However, the company can renew the contract if it informs Sanrio Wave Hong Kong Co at least a month in advance.
TACC has been listed on the Market for Alternative Investment since the end of last year. The company is a producer and distributor of beverages, mainly tea and coffee.
Currently, it operates business-to-business services, such as supplying ready-to-drink beverages to 7-Eleven stores as well as instant drink powders to All Cafe outlets in the 7-Elevens.
The company also sells beverages directly to consumers, such |as bottled green tea under |the Zenya brand, VSlim instant |coffee, and instant drink powders under the Na-Arun and Sawasdee brands.
In Cambodia, Zenya now has more than half of the market for bottled green-tea products, and the Na-Arun and Sawasdee brands are targeted for export, as the company has started selling them in China online.
Last year, TACC posted a 31-per-cent increase in net profit to Bt67.95 million on flat-growth revenue of Bt1 billion.
“The company expects to see around Bt50 million to Bt60 million in revenue this year,” Chatchawee said.
