Prayut regime has helped prevent an economic crisis
Greece and Puerto Rico had recognised democracies, majority rule and “free” news media, but despite all of that, economic collapse ensued.
There are those including me who believe that the previous Thai government was speeding unabated in that exact same direction.
Americans have fallen in love with a “debt is good” idea, so Thais find too few allies in the US when citing that as a legitimate reason for the current government.
For me, the evidence of impending economic disaster was all too clear to see: something had to be done and fast.
Too many Americans are living in denial – phantasmagoric denial – concerning debt, but their “day of reckoning” is very soon too come — within a year according to US and EU financial analysts.
If the US can get away with all of that, then fine, but Southeast Asians cannot, and the EU cannot get away with much of it for much longer.
Criticise the current Thai government all you want, Americans, but also please admit that those in charge in Thailand are preventing economic calamity and economic collapse.
