The country’s largest subscription-based TV broadcaster is expected to hold a press conference tomorrow about this news, which should be exciting for its 3 million subscribers. The company had lost this top-tier soccer league for three years.
The source said that under the new three-season contract, 380 live matches would be broadcast each season, but further details could not be revealed at this stage.
At the event, two executives of True Corporation, the parent of TrueVisions, namely Birathorn Kasemsri Na Ayudhya and Supakit Vuntanadit, will disclose the business direction for this new sports content.
COMMERCIALS RUN TOO LONG
The broadcasting regulator yesterday agreed to serve written notice to three digital TV licensees that aired commercials over the legal limit.
They are BEC-Multimedia, the operator of Channel 33HD; Bangkok Broadcasting and Television, the operator of Channel 7HD; and Thai Broadcast, the operator of Workpoint TV.
Pakdee Manaves, deputy secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, said those TV broadcasters had exploited consumers by screening more than 12 minutes of commercials per hour during prime-time dramas, which is the maximum allowed.
He said the stations would be fined if they continued to violate the time limit after|receiving the written warning.
NEW SPRINGNEWS CHAIRMAN
News Network Corp yesterday informed the Stock Exchange of Thailand that the board of directors of its wholly owned subsidiary Springnews Corp had agreed to appoint Thanachai Theerapattanavong, a director, as chairman in place of Suthichai Bunnag, who would remain a director.
Thanachai was the chief executive officer of Nation Multimedia Group from 1988 to 2012.
COOPERATION ON CYBERSECURITY
King Mongkut Institute of Technology Latkrabang yesterday signed an agreement with Group IB, a Russian company dedicated |to preventing and investigating high-tech crimes and online fraud, for cooperation in marketing cybersecurity and cyber-intelligence solutions in Thailand.
KMITL’s business unit offering IT solution services will become an authorised sales and service partner to provide technical support and training for Group IB’s products.
The company will also work with the institute to promote best practices, training and public awareness of cyber-intelligence.
Professor Suchatvee Suwansawat, the institute’s president, said this marked the first cooperation between a Thai educational |institute with a leading Russian company |after Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak’s visit to that country in |February.
