BJC completes Bt54 bn bond issue

BJC completes Bt54 bn bond issue

Berli Jucker (BJC) has successfully completed the book building for its new debentures, ready to raise Bt54 billion from the largest single-issue size by a Thai enterprise.

According to Kasikornbank, one of the joint-lead arrangers, the proceeds will be used to finance the bridging loans taken for the acquisition of Big C Supercentre.
Big C initially planned to raise Bt50 billion from the bond issue but decided to raise the size thanks to the positive book building results.
The debentures will carry three maturities - 3, 5, 7 and 10 years. They carry the coupon rates of 2.34 per cent, 2.69 per cent, 3.07 per cent and 3.80 per cent, respectively. The average cost of the issue is 2.98 per cent per annum.
The joint-lead arrangers for the transaction include Bangkok Bank, Krungthai Bank, Siam Commercial Bank and Phatra Securities.
In February, BJC announced the acquisition of Big C. It bought the 59 per cent stake in Big C from France’s Casino Group for 3.1 billion euros or approximately Bt122 billion in Thai baht.
