Roi Et rookie wins Thailand LPGA Masters

Rising teen star Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras fired a finishing 67 to beat fellow LPGA player Benyapa Niphatsophon by three strokes and lift the Bt4-million Thailand LPGA Masters at the Panya Indra Golf Club yesterday.

The 18-year-old from Roi Et produced a bogey-free round of five birdies to win at the par-72, 6,446-yard layout with a total 12-under 204.
“I’m so happy as this is my first title win as a professional,” said the world No 129 player.
Pannarat has made just seven cuts out of 18 in this, her rookie year on the LPGA Tour, with her best run coming at the Manulife LPGA Classic in Canada earlier this month.
“Right now I have half-card status on the LPGA for next season. I will go back to the LPGA Tour and try my best to clinch a full card for next year,” Pannarat said.
Benyapa fired seven birdies against one bogey on the eighth hole for a 66 and a total nine-under 207. She took home the runner-up’s cheque of Bt400,000. Kanphanitnan Muangkhumsakul, 17, from Khon Kaen, carded a final-round 70 for a total 208 to land third.
