Travel blogger creates app of world’s airport WiFi passwords

Computer security engineer, frequent flyer, and travel blogger Anil Polat has eased his fellow travelers’ worries by establishing an app with an interactive map of the world’s airport WiFi passwords.

 

Polat has merged his directory in WiFox, an app that uses Google Maps to seek, access to airport WiFi passwords. It also includes the exact locations of the lounges, network names and passwords of 80 international airports, and even a directory of “hotspots” with the strongest signal. Simply copy and paste the password into a smartphone’s wireless network settings and anyone can post their airport selfies on social media.

 

In his foXoMad blog post, Polat also detailed that his app detects whether an airport WiFi has a time limit and instructs the user on how to prolong their usage of limited internet. “All of the information is verified before being approved to the map–plus you can submit password changes as you discover them. WiFox also has a simple feedback system that lets you vouch for working passwords or let me know one might need updating,” he wrote. This means travelers can also help by sharing updated WiFi passwords, which will be verified before it becomes available on the app. WiFox can be availed of on iOS and Android on Google Play for $1.99 (P96).
