More free services from AIS at Sanam Luang and Na Phra Lan Road

AIS has extended free Wifi network covering Sanam Luang and Na Phra Lan Road to facilitate large crowds coming to express condolences to His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

Wilai Keangpradoo, senior vice president public relations at Advanced Info Service Public Limited Company or AIS, said that since high numbers of visitors were expected to continue heading to Sanam Luang and the Grand Palace to express their condolences to HM the King through the next few months, AIS prepared its service extensions to ease general public for voice and data usage including more wifi network, AIS mobile vans and small cell, large tents for public’s rest area, and extending AIS Shuttle services.

"AIS has been facilitating large crowds ranging from increasing network coverage to providing free shuttle and free phone call since October 14,” said Wilai.

AIS increased free Wifi by AIS for general public regardless of the mobile-network operator they subscribed. AIS customers will receive privilege from AIS Super WiFi accessible at the entire Sanam Luang, Na Phra Lan Road, and all the roads surrounding the Grand Palace. Individuals wanting to connect with Free Wifi by AIS, AIS Super WiFi, or simply make a free phone call can do so at AIS Public Assistance Center located inside the tents of Ministry of Interiors and Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) scattered around Sanam Luang.

AIS mobile vans are on duty 24 hours to support heavy mobile usage at Sanam Luang and the areas surrounding the Grand Palace. AIS aims to increase network capacity to 500 per cent from the usual mobile traffic.

Since October 15, AIS has been providing free shuttle service for the public who want to pay respects to the King and will extend the shuttle service until January 21 next year.

All shuttles will operate on Saturday, Sunday, national holidays, the 50th Day of Remembrance, and the 100th Day of Remembrance. Commuters can board AIS shuttle at four transit spots including route A from Mor Chit Bus Terminal, route B from Ekamai Bus Terminal, route C from Sai Tai Mai Bus Terminal, and route D from Hualumpong Railway Station.

AIS shuttle service operates from 6am until 8 pm, and the last shuttle will leave Sanam Luang at 8 pm. Please note that the drop-off and pick-up spots at Sanam Luang may be changed depending on the traffic arrangement as announced by the government. Commuters should check the street signs or ask AIS service attendants at Sanam Luang.
