Evidence that cutting out meat can help diabetics

Evidence that cutting out meat can help diabetics

Re: “Helping children live normal lives”, XP, November 15.

Dr Swamagsatham claims that diabetics must be treated with insulin for the rest of their lives. That’s not necessarily true.
In his book “The China Study”, Dr James Anderson puts 25 Type 2 diabetics on a low-fat, near-vegetarian diet, and within a matter of weeks 24 of them no longer need insulin.
Even the Type 1 diabetics who went on that diet were able to reduce the amount of insulin they needed by 40 per cent.
Don’t doctors have a moral responsibility to know about the link between eating meat and disease so that they can more adequately treat their patients?
