Cafe Kantary in Bang Saen offers a great selection of easy-to-eat main dishes and delicious desserts

IF YOU’RE taking break in the seaside resort of Bang Saen and fancy your seafood prepared with a fusion twist seafood, look no further than Cafe Kantary, which is now offering a variety of sweet treats and savoury platters guaranteed to please.
Located at Wong Wian Pla Loma, the two-storey cafe is operated by the four-star hotel and serviced apartment chain Kantary Hotel Collection and is gaining a reputation among local and visitors for its home-made desserts and easy-to-eat dishes that come in large enough portions to share.
Cosy but chic with a modern Japanese feel, the eatery has plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs to make relaxing a positive delight. The display case tempts with more than 70 kinds of layered cakes from Kantary Hotel’s main kitchen and changes are made daily to ensure customers never get bored.
We start our meal with spicy Salmon Carpaccio marinated with spices (Bt195) and Hokkaido Sashimi Salad (Bt230) with a home-made sesame dressing adorned with salmon, tuna, squid, flying fish roe and Japanese seaweed.

Next up is a sizzling plate of Cheesy Gyoza (Bt185) boasting six pan-fried pork dumplings served in a sea of super creamy cheese. Equally savoury are the crispy Deep-fried Cheese Balls (Bt180) paired with refreshing sour raspberry sauce. We continue our repast with thin and crisp Smoked Salmon and Salmon Roe Pizza (Bt340) and Spaghetti in Creamy Sauce (Bt175) served with deep-fried shrimp and shrimp roe.

“Our dishes are a fusion of Japanese, Italian and Thai recipes. Our pizzas are made individually and according to a traditional Italian recipe. We also have a choice of innovative rice bowls including steamed rice topped with omelette and tom yum goong sauce,” says senior manager Phatsa Lalitrueangdetch.
We also sample Oh Lah La Honey Toast (Bt160), a milk-based toast dipped in butter before being baked and served with sliced almonds, smooth fresh whipped cream, vanilla ice cream and honey syrup. Other popular orders, Phatsa tells us, are Berry Berry (Bt185), a super-thin crispy crepe filled with blackberries, raspberries and strawberries in vanilla sauce, and Chocolate Fudge Brownie (Bt150), a warm soft brownie in chocolate sauce topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream.
