Chang Football Sevens to offer Bt2 million

THAIBEV WILL host the “Chang Football Sevens Season Three” tournament for amateur players aged over 20 across the country with a total prize money of Bt2 million.

Applications for the seven-a-side competition, that drew more than 10,000 participants nationwide in the second year, can be made at the event’s website, www.changfootballsevens.com or its Facebook page, facebook.com/ChangWorld.

“Our beverage brand Chang has regularly supported football activities. This is the third year we are hosting

Chang Football Sevens event,” said Edmond Neo Kim Soon, CEO of Chang International. “It is held under our ‘Fulfilling Friendship’ campaign to support ‘My Friend My team’. The idea is that we can be a friend either on or off the pitch. And that friends are on our side all the time. What we look for more than a competition is friendship.

“One thing special about this year is that we are bringing in national team coach Kiatisak Senamuang to try and inspire youngsters to pursue their dream. Those participating in our event would also gain good experience and friendship during the competition,” he said.

Pisan Jundilok, the secretary general of the Football Association of Thailand, gave his backing to the event, which he believed would contribute to the overall development of football in the country.

“Chang are our long standing partners. They’ve given opportunity to several amateur players across the country to realise their dream of becoming a professional athlete. Some may see a seven-a-side competition as only a small event but the players will have a chance to prove themselves on the pitch,” Pisan said.

The qualifying event will be held in 16 provinces nationwide, kicking off in Ayutthaya. The winners in each leg will progress into the final round due to be held in Buriram later this year.

The winners in qualifying round would receive Bt30,000, while the runners-up and the third-place finishers pocket Bt20,000 and 10,000 respectively. The champions in the finals, meanwhile, earn Bt1,000,000, with second and third-placed sides taking home Bt250,000 and 150,000 respectively.
