ฺBidding Winners of Electronic Data Capture Installation to be Decided in 30 Days
The Finance Ministry will announce the bidding winners of electronic data capture installation within 30 days after closing the biding proposal this Friday.
Two consortium banks already submitted its proposal for the auction. Only one or both banks will be picked by the ministry, said Somchai Sajjapongse, Finance Ministry permanent secretary.
The EDC auction winners will have to install 550,000 units, he said.
“We will announce the winners within 30 days or within February 26 or before the date. The bank winners have to install EDC at merchants within 15 days. The installation of all 550,000 EDCs must be completed in March next year, while around 18,000 EDCs that will be installed at the state agencies must be completed in September next year,” he said
EDC installation is the second phase of the National e-payment, after PromptPay, which consumers can transfer their money via the system for free charge this Friday.
The fee for payments will be waived for transactions of up to Bt5,000. There will be a Bt2 charge for transaction between Bt5,001 - Bt30,000, Bt5 between Bt30,001 - Bt100,000, and Bt10 for above Bt100,000.
