Yum moves to enhance franchise-led growth of KFC

YUM Restaurants International (Thailand) Co says it has started refranchising all KFC restaurants to open opportunities for new partners as well as to focus on brand innovation.

Supporting franchise-led growth will help KFC grow even stronger in Thailand, general manager Waewkanee Assoratgoon told a press conference yesterday.
After 33 years, KFC is still the No 1 restaurant brand in Thailand, she said.
“We owe much success to our founding partner, Central Restaurant Group, which opened its first drive-through KFC restaurant at Tiwanon in 2016.”
KFC built 52 stores last year. It also welcomed another franchise partner, Restaurant Development Co, to grow its brand.
Yum will restructure its Bangkok support centre to focus on franchisee support, brand innovation and reinforcement of global operating standards.
Management of Yum Restaurants International (Thailand) have confirmed they are highly committed to supporting and working through the change, while remaining in close partnership with employees at both the support centre and branches.
Waewkanee said 2017 “will be a great year for KFC Thailand. We are committed to our goal of at least 800 stores by 2020 in Thailand and enhancing our brand experience for all our customers.”
