True board names two presidents

TRUE CORP’S board yesterday appointed deputy chief executive officer Vichaow Rakphongphairoj, 59, and group chief operating officer Adhiruth Thothaveesansuk, 53, as co-presidents, as part of the company’s management restructuring.

The board also appointed former president and CEO Suphachai Chearavanont as chairman of the executive committee, according to its filing to the Stock Exchange of Thailand.
The appointments are effective on February 21.
As executive committee chairman, Suphachai will continue to play a key role in delivering the company’s policy and strategies.
Suphachai has already moved to become CEO of Charoen Pokhand group, which is True’s parent. His high positions at both companies will ensure they back each other’s business operations.
Vichaow, who has been with the True group for 25 years, will take charge of commercial operations, including mobile-phone, broadband Internet and the TrueVisions pay-TV service.
Adhiruth, who has been with the group for 19 years, will take care of the operation side, from overall management to information-technology networks and customer service.
CP group is the largest shareholder of True with a 56.2-per-cent stake, while China Mobile International Holdings, the largest mobile-phone operator in China, currently holds 18 per cent.
Suphachai has said he was strongly confident that his move to CP would not affect True’s operations, as the True board had been aware of business group’s succession plan. True has restructured the company to cope with intense competition and to transform it into a fully digital company.
He said this management restructuring came at a good time as the True group now is financially strong and has a strong product and service portfolio and strong telecom network.
