Transformation Films return with four new projects
Despite its bad start at the box office with movies “Tukkae Rak Pangmak” (“Chiang Khan Story”) and “Phor Khoei Me Fan” (“Single Lady”) a few years ago, the new studio Transformation Films comes back with four upcoming projects that they hope to release this year.
A few years ago, new studio Transformation Films had a bad start at the box office with movies “Tukkae Rak Pangmak” (“Chiang Khan Story”) and “Phor Khoei Me Fan” (“Single Lady”) despite casting superstar Patcharapa "Aum" Chaichuea in the lead role.
Studio bosses went home to lick their wounds but came back with a bang last month with “Mr Hurt Muewang Undab Jeb” starring GDH regular Sunny Suwanmethanont.
They claim that “Mr Hurt” has earned Bt100 million at the box office and recently took advantage of the celebratory party to reveal another four upcoming projects that they hope to release this year.
The staff of the projects, mainly made up of advertising directors, scriptwriters and assistant directors, is working closely with the studio under the supervision of Transformation’s creator Wisit Sasanatieng.
“Premika Paa Rab” is about a ghost living in a karaoke machine who hates those who sing badly so much that she’ll kill them for their bad performance.
“Rock and Lum Kaen Never Die” is a comedy about a group of underdog musicians who pursue their dreams from London to Khon Kaen and find the perfect tune between rock music and mor lam.
“Phee Mue Mai” is a fantasy film about life after death in a hi-tech and trendy world where the spirits dress like hipsters and have to download applications in order to become skilled ghosts.
And last but not least is “Sang Krasue” which is directed by Chookiat Sakveerakul, a stalwart of Sahamongkol Films, who is working with Transformation for the first time. His film is a romantic horror involving a krasue (filth-eating spirit) who needs a kiss from the man she loves so that she can pass her saliva to him and make her tribe immortal.
Some of the films have already started shooting and others are at the script completion stage. Transformation Films is among the film companies affiliated with Major Group, which runs the biggest multiplex theatre chain in Thailand.
