Wishya vanquishes Japanese Kobayashi for quarter-final berth in Nishi-Tama
Wishaya Trongcharoenchaikul dropped just three games to beat Japanese qualifier Masaya Kobayashi 6-0 6-3 to reach the quarter-finals of the US$15,000 Asia Univ. Int'l Men's Open Tennis 2017 at the Asia University Hinode Campus on Thursday.
The Thai No 1, ranked No 787 blast eight aces to the Japanese teenager to win the match and reached his first quarter-finals this year.
“I was playing at the top of my game. I was serving well and stayed aggressive all the time,” said the 21-year-old who will next take on Japanese Renta Tokuda, the conqueror of Chinese top seed Li Zhe in round two.
“He is a solid player. I have to play my game and keep the balls in play,’’ the national Davis Cup player said.
