TCEB unveils aggressive MICE growth blueprint

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau aims to create opportunities for 20,000 new-generation meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions professionals in the service and labour sectors by 2021.

TCEB has teamed with strategic partners to organise the third edition of MICE Academy & Career Day, “spearheading Thailand’s leadership position as the Asean MICE education hub”.
TCEB president Nopparat Maythaveekulchai said the independent organisation’s mission is to promote and support the MICE industry through its 2017 development strategy.
Nopparat said the strategy encompasses efforts to lay the foundations for the sector’as growth through education.
Under the MICE Academy campaign – created to help develop connections and strengthen a nationwide network of universities and vocational colleges while fostering cooperation from leading overseas MICE education bodies – TCEB aims to drive Thailand’s leadership position as the Asean MICE education hub.
The MICE Academy campaign highlights five strategic programmes: the development of MICE 101 curriculum; the Coach the Coaches initiative; the Academic Exchange Roadshow initiative; the MICE Academic Cluster project; and the MICE Academy & Career Day.
Nichapa Yoswee, director of MICE Capabilities Department at TCEB, said the MICE Academy is driven by three key strategies including content creation, which comprises the development of MICE 101 and Thailand’s first event 101 curricula to be used by 60 universities and 47 vocational colleges across the country.
Nichapa said MICE Casebook pools together useful MICE business knowledge while the Handbook for National Qualifications for Higher Education for MICE and Events Curricula has been drafted to help provide participating educational institutes with guidelines for their MICE Departments.
For vocational colleges, TCEB supports the expansion of occupations that are beneficial to the economy through the vocational manpower development of the MICE industry, Nichapa said.
