Young curators on the rise

Young curators on the rise

Bangkok Art and Culture Centre continues its efforts to bolster curatorship in the country by hosting the group exhibition “Mode of Liaisons” from March 31 to July 2.

Part of the “Condition Report” – a collaborative art project with curators from Japan and Southeast Asian Countries, the objective is to incubate young curators through pairing them with senior curators spanning projects across the region. The Bangkok show is mainly selected by Thai curator Pichaya Aime Suphavanij with co-curators Aung Myat Htay, Bayu Genia Krishbie, Nakamura Fumiko and Vittavin Leelavanachai.
“Mode of Liaisons” aims to look at the meanings that are not only embedded in the artworks, but also the ecosystem in which the artworks are conceived. This concept views a work of art as a living organism with appendages that move and adapt the meaning of its existence. The show also explores the essence hidden in the point of interaction between networks of different works, which can in turn lead to the exploration of further meaningful relationships.
The participating artists include Albert Samreth, Arie Syarifuddin, Au Sow Yee, Buka Warung, Ho Rui An, Korakrit Arunanondchai, Lab Tanya, Mark The, Miyagi Futoshi, Nattapon Sawasdee, the Philippine Educational Theatre Association, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Roslisham Ismail in collaboration with Parkingproject Superfriend’s, Tamura Yuichiro, Tanaphon Inthong, Ukrit Sa-nguanhai, and Universe Baldoza.
