Betagro Group opens pet food manufacturing plant
Betagro Group has opened a factory in Lop Buri province as part of its manufacturing capacity expansion for dog and cat pet food.
The company said products manufactured at the plant are made from high-quality protein ingredients, using the most advanced production technology in Asean to be compliant with internationally recognised quality and food safety standards.
It said the products are designed and formulated to meet the needs of both local and international customers, with their sales projected to grow 60 per cent this year.
The new plant under Pet Focus Company Limited, the group’s first integrated pet food production line, is in tambon Chong Sarika, Lop Buri province.
Vasit Taepaisitphongse, president of Betagro Group, said that today pet lovers raise their pets with love and great care and, in many cases, are treated like family members.
For this reason, he said the Group sees more opportunities to expand its production capacity of premium-quality pet foods to meet rising demand from discerning customers.
In Thailand, today’s market demand for dry, ready-to-eat kibble is estimated at 15,000 tonnes per month, the company said. About 25,000 tonnes is for export.
The total market value of food for cats and dogs is Bt25 billion, with the group ranking among the top five manufacturers and distributors of pet food in the country, it said. Last year, the group said its sales grew 20 per cent higher than what was expected. For this year, it projects sales to grow 60 per cent compared to the predicted industry average of 10-15 per cent growth.
“We attach a lot of importance to a better quality of life of everyone, certainly including dogs and cats which are treated as family members,” Vasit said. “Therefore, food for dogs and cats require much attention in quality control at all stages of the supply chain – [starting] from the careful selection of raw materials, especially proteins from high quality fresh meat – to maintain nutritional values and for better digestion and absorption. Apart from more attractiveness and tastiness, high-quality pet diets can help improve animal immunity, nourish their hair and promote long-term health conditions.”
