Award-winning Chinese film comes to Bangkok

Award-winning Chinese film comes to Bangkok

After winning three major prizes at the 11th Asian Film Awards held recently in Hong Kong, the Chinese movie “I Am not Madame Bovary” is going be released in Thailand on April 20.

Directed by talented director Feng Xiaogang, the story has nothing to do with Gustave Flaubert’s famous French novel “Madame Bovary”, though the story does evoke its spirit even similar.

Fan Bingbing has been hailed for her portrayal of a provincial woman Li Xuelian, who spent years trying to find her runaway husband after agreeing to a temporary divorce in order to get hold of a second apartment provided by the government. In the interim, the husband marries someone else and Xuelian takes on the Chinese legal system.
Fan, who wore no make-up for the part, picked up the Best Actress prize at the Asian Film Awards.
The director made the story more interesting by shooting the film in a rounded frame to make the audience feel more like observers without bias. The jury liked the concept and awarded cameraman Luo Pan the best cinematography prize.
The film will be screened at House RCA only.
