Holland in full bloom

Holland in full bloom

Known as the garden of Europe, Keukenhof in the Netherlands recently unveiled a new entrance and the 68th edition of “Dutch Design” boasting more than 100 varieties of colourful tulips just in time for the arrival of the holiday season.

Designed by the Delft architectural firm Mecanoo, the entrance hall glows with a natural look with offices, an information desk and shops in wood, copper and brick.

“Today, after a long, cold winter we celebrate the start of a new spring with the opening of Keukenhof. We look forward to welcoming visitors from all over the world to the park and indeed have made substantial investments in improving our facilities,” says the park’s director.

Christien Meindertsma, who won the Dutch Design Award, has worked with other Dutch designers to create the latest Dutch Design theme that combines Dutch sobriety and innovative solutions.

The design is incorporated in the flower bulb mosaic, in the stunning flower shows at the Oranje Nassau Paviljoen and the orchid and anthurium exhibitions in the Beatrix Paviljoen.
