Surfing on the hallyu wave

More than 2,000 K-pop fans gathered at The EmQuartier’s Quartier Gallery on Monday morning to meet and greet South Korea’s girl group Red Velvet at their “Special Fan Signing Event in Bangkok.”

Loud screams greeted Seulgi, Irene, Wendy and Yeri – Joy wasn’t at the event – as they came out on stage and greeted Thai fans and the media.

Asked about their favourite food and drinks, Irene said she always opted for a coconut smoothie, Yeri said she couldn’t pass up a banana roti, Seulgi admitted to a passion for stir-fried crab in curry powder for Seulgi while Wendy said she loved watermelon smoothies.

They also spoke briefly about the fourth mini album and its hit single “Rookie”.

“We would like Thai fans to see our live show, which is great fun,” Irene, said.

An autograph-signing session followed for the 200 lucky fans who had bought their albums as part of the “meet and greet” deal and the event wrapped with birthday wishes and a cake for Yeri and Irene, both born in March.

The girls were obviously delighted with the gesture and promised to try and come back soon.
