Six bid to be TOT’s broadband partner

Six companies have submitted bids to be TOT’s partner in providing a wireless broadband service on the state agency's 2.3-gigahertz band.
They are Advanced Wireless Network of Advanced Info Service, DTAC TriNet of Total Access Communication, TUC RMV for the 2300 Megahertz Consortium of True Corp, Tantawan Telecom, Hi Media Technology, and Mobile LTE.
TOT holds 60 megahertz of the 2.3GHz spectrum for a term that is due to expire in eight years.
The state agency is expected to sign the partnership deal with the winning bidder in the third quarter and launch the service in the fourth quarter. TOT will select the partner using the “beauty contest” process, which determines the company proposing the best business model.

Curriculum to enhance dairy industry

FrieslandCampina (Thailand), the producer and supplier of ready-to-drink Foremost dairy products, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Dairy Farming Promotion Organisation and Kasetsart University to draw up a “National Curriculum for Dairy Development”.
It is the first time in Thailand that a private company, a state enterprise and an educational institution have pooled their resources and compiled their theoretical and practical knowledge to work out a central curriculum that will enhance the capabilities of Thai dairy farmers across the country and upgrade the dairy industry and its products to be on par with international standards, said Dr Olarn Chowiwattana, corporate affairs director of FrieslandCampina (Thailand).

THAI’s new Phuket Express service

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is offering full support to Thai Airways International, as the national carrier inaugurates its four-weekly Beijing-Phuket flights today.
TAT is co-hosting a three-day familiarisation trip for travel agents and members of the media from China that will explore the natural and cultural attractions of the resort island.
Bangornrat Chinaprayoon, director of TAT’s Beijing Office, said this new THAI route is vital as Phuket becomes ever more popular with tourists and travellers from China.
They can now conveniently come to Phuket for weekends, knowing they’ll find the world’s best beaches, a warm welcome and unique local experiences that will ensure amazing memories.
“Phuket is a high quality, must-see tropical destination and this new air access will allow tourists from our largest market to fly here directly with no hassles and start enjoying the beach and local culture as soon as they touch down,” he said.
THAI has deployed a 264-seat Boeing Dreamliner 787 to the new Beijing-Phuket route.
The route is being promoted under a “Phuket Express” campaign, leveraging the fact that tourists and travellers from China can now fly direct to the holiday province.
