The eyes have it

The eyes have it

The recent “Pun-Pun-Plian” (To Bike- To Share - To Change) biking trip in Khao Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima not only inspire Thais to broaden their travel perspective but also encouraged them to enhance their health and well-being through exercising on two wheels.

Organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand with Johnson & Johnson Vision and Cycling Plus Thailand Magazine, the event, saw celebrities and eye care professionals sharing tips on eye health with cyclists and outdoor sport lovers.
“With cycling now popular among Thais, we see a great opportunity to expand our promotion of biking trip in order to generate more revenue for the country," says Jiranee Poonnayom, executive director of the TAT’s Northeast Region.
Dhanon Bhanurujpong, an optometrist from Johnson & Johnson Vision, added: “Many people tend to focus on physical health but forget about proper eye health care. Those who love outdoor activities will inevitably be affected by UV rays from the sunlight. Staying outdoors for a long time without any eye protection can cause severe deterioration in visual function and also increase the risk of cataract. Most cyclists ride long distances. If you are contact lens user, you should consider contact lenses with UV protection that meet international standards and help keep your eye comfortable throughout the day as well as allow high oxygen flow into the cornea. When your eyes lack oxygen, they will become red. If you have dry eyes, artificial tears is an alternative choice that help relieves the symptoms and allows you to enjoy biking and outdoor sports all day.”
Saowanee Punkajornwet, business unit director – Vision Care & Primary Care, Johnson & Johnson Vision noted that the trip was part of the brand campaign “The Lens That Changes Everything”.
“Through contact lens, your perspective will broaden while you can enjoy a better outdoor experience,” she says.
