Middle East has no room for hatemongers

My name is Samer Khoury and my family are Palestinian Christians from Nazareth in Israel/Palestine. People like JC Wilcox do not speak for us! The Islamic Caliphate of the Middle Ages did not “annihilate” Christians. If they had, then we would not exist. During that period, it was the Byzantine and Crusader Christian kingdoms that were the most intolerant. In fact when the Crusaders sacked Jerusalem during the second crusade, they went door to door and executed every last Muslim and Jewish person in the Old City. When the Arabs took back the city 88 years later, they did not return the favour and actually the Christian crusaders were given a safe passage to Acre.
The Koran is written in Arabic prose and can be interpreted in different ways. You must be fluent in Arabic to fully understand it, my father always told me. Palestinian Christians have suffered alongside Muslims over the decades, starting with the ethnic cleansing of 1948 and continue to suffer under Israeli apartheid policies in Bethlehem and East Jerusalem.
Over the decades, Jewish and Christian extremist Zionists have repeatedly tried to poison our relationship with Islam and they have repeatedly failed. The guardians of the Christian holy sites in Nazareth, Bethlehem and East Jerusalem are Christian Arabs, Armenians, and Africans and there is no room there for hate mongers like JC Wilcox. Stay away!
