On a journey with Maje
French ready-to-wear brand Maje’s spring/summer collection takes women on a solitary journey through the African continent from Maghreb to the Sahara and Tanzania.
The collection is both feminine and adventurous. Just like Marie Schneider in Antonioni’s film “The Passenger”, Maje appeals to a nomadic imagination, bohemian yet clearly urban. Shades of faded lavender-blue, sienna and vermilion red bring out flowing and oversized, discreetly structured pieces. Wild flowers grow on maxi skirts and for day, a neo-djellaba is redesigned as a short denim tunic dress. For night, there are long pieces, overlays of frills or flowing lace. Tone-on-tone details add a graphic twist while delicately embroidered beads bring a touch of romanticism. Delicate charms are perfect accessories this season.
