Microsoft Thailand names former HP exec as new general manager

Microsoft has announced that Dhanawat Suthumpun will be officially appointed as the new general manager for Thailand, effective on June 1.

In his new role, Dhanawat will leverage more than 25 years of business and information-technology experience to drive Microsoft’s mission in Thailand.
Dhanawat joins Microsoft from Hewlett-Packard (Thailand), where he served as managing director and general manager of the enterprise group. He has led that company’s enterprise services and software business here since 2011.
He also successfully transformed the HP Thailand organisation by fostering a customer-centric culture and building a strong ecosystem of partners – including a thriving relationship with Microsoft as one of HP’s major strategic allies, his new company says.
Before joining HP, Dhanawat held a wide range of industry, services, and solution-specific leadership roles at IBM from 1990 to 2011.
Ralph Haupter, president of Microsoft Asia, said: “We are very excited that Dhanawat is bringing his leadership and deep IT experience to Microsoft Thailand. We continue to transform as an organisation and Dhanawat’s strong track record of driving change and delivering business success will be invaluable to accelerating digital transformation for our customers and partners in Thailand."
Dhanawat said: “I am pleased and honoured to join Microsoft – a company that is not only transforming businesses but empowering people and societies all around the globe. I look forward to leveraging Microsoft’s leading technology solutions and services to drive success for our customers, partners and the people and communities in Thailand.”
Dhanawat holds a Master of Business Administration degree from California State University, San Bernardino, and a Bachelor of Arts in accounting from Assumption University, Bangkok.
