Another day, another rape by a taxi driver: when will it be safe?
Another day another rape case by a taxi driver on a female passenger.
As usual there is an uproar because the victim is a tourist. In the same pattern, the alleged driver, who had committed similar crimes twice, will be convicted and sentenced, and after a few years when he is released from prison, he will likely drive a taxi again in the middle of the night looking for his prey.
How can we stamp out such crimes? When can I stop reminding my overseas friend not to let his daughter catch a taxi alone in Thailand because it is not safe?

vehicle should be held responsible too if the background of the driver has not been properly screened and registered.
For the many police checkpoints around the city, would it not be more constructive to conduct random checks on the identity and background of taxi drivers?
