Telecom, bankers’ associations sign MoU on mobile banking security

The Telecommunications Association of Thailand and the Thai Bankers Association on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding on ensuring the security of mobile banking services.

According to the MoU, the two associations will facilitate links between mobile-phone service providers and commercial banks for the exchange of relevant information. This will help the banks make sure their clients’ transactions are secure after they register for the PromptPay e-payment service.
PromptPay, the first stage of the government’s national e-payment policy, allows users to transfer money to recipients by using only their national ID numbers or mobile-phone numbers.
Last June, the Bank of Thailand and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission signed an MoU on jointly regulating mobile banking services.
