Thai Life gives kids a better chance

Thai Life Insurance is living up to its slogan “Life Beside You” with a continuing commitment to helping society.

Chai Chaiyawan leads a management team consisting of Angkoon Srikanlayanabuth, Prasit Songyaran, Pairoj Phuagpraphat, Pasinee Prechathanapol and Duangduen Kongkasawad that is committed to working for improvements in the healthcare system, particularly among children born with heart disease.

The company recently hosting a charity dinner at Park Nai Lert House to which corporate business partners were invited. These included Ogilvy & Mather, Media Com, Matching Maximize Solution, RS, Index Creative Village, DD Journey Tour, Workpoint Entertainment, Seacon Development, SF Corp, GMM Grammy, GMM Channel, GDH 559, Major Cineplex Group, The Mall Group and Central Patana.

The event, part of a “Project One for Lives for Children with Heart Disease” campaign, raised funds for Samitivej Children’s Hospital to pay for surgery for children with congenital heart disease.

“Our company is committed to serving the society on an ongoing basis through the One for Lives Foundation and extending a helping hand to the underprivileged, the aged, women and children,” Chai said at the dinner.

“One of our main concerns is for children with congenital heart disease, and it’s part of our corporate responsibility to society to do something about it. These children are in need of close medical supervision, especially in the area of heart surgery.”

Guests donated Bt2 million. Chai expressed particular gratitude to Dr Nattakit Tangpoonsinthana, PakornPartanapat, Natsamon Vongkittipat, Niti Pattanapakdee, Saithip Montrikul  Na Audhaya, Jina Osothsilp, Ong-art Singlumpong and Varathep Ratanakorn.

“I truly appreciate Thai Life Insurance for standing by our community and supporting activities that are beneficial to our society,” said Samitivej director Dr Surangkana Techapaitoon.

“This endeavour has once again proved that there is no shortage of people of generosity. The donation that each and every one makes will be forwarded to the New Life Samitivej Fund to be utilised for the benefit of children with congenital heart disease under our care.”

Around 8,000 children are diagnosed with congenital heart disease in Thailand every year. Half can be treated with medication, but the rest require surgery to avoid premature death or physical disability. A fifth are likely to die within a year of diagnosis. Surgery thus becomes essential in allowing the children to recover and enjoy life.
