Focus on Internet of Things and Thailand 4.0 at two-day Bangkok event
Senior IT stakeholders of local Thai enterprises, government organisations, telecommunications companies, and Internet of Things (IoT) solution providers will gather in Bangkok this July for the Asia IoT Business Platform (AIBP).
Endorsed by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, the event will focus on the Thailand 4.0 initiative and shed light on the challenges that Thai enterprises and public service organisations face in adopting and deploying IoT projects, as well as the latest developments in Thailand’s IoT and ICT industry.
The two-day event will be held on July 24-25 at Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel where more than 300 attendees will gain access to the latest updates on Internet of Things (IoT) information, knowledge-building discussions, and strategic business connections in the region.
Digital Economy and Society Ministry Vice Minister Pansak Siriratchatpong will deliver the keynote address and participate in a panel discussion to highlight initiatives rolled out by the Thai government to facilitate and drive the country towards Thailand 4.0.
“Since our debut event in Thailand in 2015, we have seen promising developments in Thailand’s ICT industry – from smart city initiatives in Saensuk Municipality, Phuket, and Chiang Mai, to IoT projects by Thai enterprises across different sectors. We are glad that the Thai government has stepped up with Thailand 4.0 to develop the country’s economy to become a knowledge-based one and we will continue to support the country’s vision,” Irza Suprapto, director of Asia IoT Business Platform, said.
A recent survey conducted by Asia IoT Business Platform shows that more than 70 per cent of local enterprises and organisations are currently in the process of exploring or finding possible IoT solutions to be deployed or implemented. However, only 7 per cent of them reported benefiting from any IoT implementation. These enterprises and organisations cite cost, legacy systems, and complexity as the top three concerns in adopting IoT.
Thailand is on the move to become Asean’s digital infrastructure hub by 2020, Frost & Sullivan reported, with spending on Internet of Things (IoT) in 2014 amounting to US$57.7 million (Bt2 billion). It is forecast to increase by 1,600 per cent by 2020.
