TRIS keeps ‘A’ rating on Betagro

TRIS Rating has reaffirmed the company rating of Betagro (BTG) at “A” , with the same rating for its outstanding senior unsecured debentures.
TRIS assigned a rating of “A” to BTG’s proposed issue of up to Bt4,500 million in senior unsecured debentures.
The proceeds from the new debentures will be used for planned capital expenditure.
Betagro says the ratings reflect the company’s proven record in the Thai agribusiness and food industries, “full vertical integration across its diverse product lines, and the focus on value-added and branded products”
The company says these strengths “are partially offset by the inherent cyclicality of the commodity-like products BTG sells and the volatile prices for the major raw materials, the exposure to disease outbreaks, as well as changes in tariffs of importing countries”.

TV stations set up ad-censorship club

Royal Thai Army Radio and Television Station’s Channel 5 is collaborating with Bangkok Broadcasting Television, which airs Channel 7, and 10 other partners to set up a club for censorship of radio and television advertising as an effort for self-supervision in this matter.
Starting from today, the club’s structure, details, regulations and ethics will follow the requirements of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission, and its practices will be set by members, academic units, associations and experts an advertisement censorship.
In response to this, the Advertising Association of Thailand stated that the club’s work overlapped that of a working group with an existing censorship schedule.
Its practice also goes against a memorandum of understanding signed on April 3, 2013, by all TV and advertisement-related organisations to set up a policy committee for ad censorship, the association said.

Canterbury opens new stores in Bangkok

Sports brand Canterbury has opened its latest store in Bangkok, bringing the total number to five since the New Zealand-founded company launched its flagship store in February.
Canterbury said its expansion in Thailand reflected the increasing popularity of rugby union and the fitness industry in the country, and showcased how attitudes towards healthy living and exercise have shifted in recent years.
Canterbury said rugby was the fastest-growing team sport on the planet and player numbers in Thailand were rapidly increasing thanks to initiatives of the Thai Rugby Union.
The company said the latest store opening, at Go Sports Mega Bangna, followed four successful openings in Bangkok in five months: Supersports at CentralWorld, Sports Mall at Emporium, the lifestyle section of EmQuartier, and the flagship Phayathai Building shop.
