Where the stars meet

Where the stars meet

Shintaro restaurant of Anantara Siam Bangkok is hosting the Tanabata Festival on July 7 with an exclusive sake-paired five-course dinner, crafted by veteran chef Satoshi Sawada.

The Tanabata Sake Dinner will introduce a mouth-watering seasonal menu that is specially prepared with such famous ingredients as Kagoshima Eel and Flash-smoked Wagyu Beef to guarantee diner satisfaction. Each course is paired with different Sake, ranging from Kariho Kassei Junmei Sparkling Sake to a Kishu Ryokucha Umeshu to tantalise the taste buds. Chef Sawada will be preparing delicacies such as seasonal sashimi with Tamari Soya, Mustard Miso and Mirin Plum.
Also known as the Star festival, the Tanabata honours the meeting of the stars, Altair and Vega. According to legend, they are separated by the Milky Way and only allowed to meet once a year. Inspired by a famous folk story, the festival has been in existence for over 1, 000 years. Festivities take place throughout Japan, with large colourful streamers decorating the streets and children hanging small wishes on bamboo trees.
Tanabata Sake Dinner is priced at Bt3,500-plus per person and starts from 6.30pm.
