Warning about counterfeit Nokia phones sold in Thailand

Warning about counterfeit Nokia phones sold in Thailand

Thai consumers have been warned be on the outlook for counterfeit Nokia 3310 phones spotted at various locations in the country.

Finland-based HMD Global, the exclusive licensee of the Nokia brand for mobile phones and tablets, issued the warning.
Nokia is sending a clear message to Thai consumers not to purchase these phones, while alerting consumers that such devices are not covered by the protection of Nokia phone-care services.
HMD does not plan to sell Nokia 3310 in Thailand as the feature phone only run on a 2G network.
In Thailand, 2G services will be phased out. This means that any such devices on the market in Thailand are not legitimate nor are they authorised Nokia products.
Nokia 3310 phones purchased outside Thailand and protected by Nokia services are covered by authorised retailers in the country where they were purchased.
This month sees the much-anticipated launch of Nokia’s first smartphone range in Thailand.
The Nokia 3, 5 and 6 were introduced in May at Thailand Mobile Expo 2017.
Nokia 3, 5 and 6 phones are available nationwide through major operators and retailers including Advanced Info Service, True Corp, Total Access Communication, Jaymart and TG Fone.
