Epson broadens base with move on large enterprises

EPSON has released two inkjet printers designed for large enterprises, with expectations of snaring 5 per cent of the Thai market for A3-size high-speed printers by the end of the year. A 5 per cent share of this market segment – tapped by Epson for the first time in Thailand - equates to about Bt35 million.

Yunyong Muneemongkoltorn, general manager of Epson (Thailand), said that with rising demand for inkjet printers, the company expects a good response to the new models – the WorkForce Enterprise WF-C20590 and the WF-C17590 – from big companies and government agencies.
The WF-C20590 can print at 100 pages a minute for mono and colour pages. The WF-C17590 does 75 pages a minute.
“This is the first time for that Epson has expanded its business base in Thailand to provide inkjet printers for large enterprises,” Yunyong said.
“The two new printers can handle various kinds of printing jobs and are equipped with Micro Piezo technology to support printing at fast speeds and with high quality. They are compatible with A3 printing, 350-gram paper and also continuous sheets of up to 120 centimetres in length.”
He said the goal of Bt35 million in revenue for this segment by the end of the year meant it would take 5 per cent of the Bt700 million market for A3 high-speed printers.
Researcher IDC reported that the overall market for printers in the country was about Bt14.6 billion in 2016. Of that amount, Bt600 million was spent on dot-matrix printers, Bt10 billion on laser printers and Bt4 billion on inkjet printers.
The inkjet printer market is made up of so-called genuine ink tank or continuous ink supply systems (CISS), worth Bt2.5 billion and ink cartridge printer models worth Bt1.5 billion. The market for CISS models amounted to Bt2.5 billion, with Epson taking more than half the market for this segment last year.
The company has traditionally supplied inkjet printers to consumers and the small office and home office segment, as well as the medium-sized enterprise |market. He said in the first haft of this year the firm has gained revenue grown from printer business more than five per cent. The firm will continue to provide activity campaign to capture the increasing demand of the consumer, small office, home office, medium, government and large enterprise market to reach revenue grown from inkjet printer business by the end of this year at around five per cent.
