BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN - Local tech startup AGROME IQ has been selected as one of the finalists for the 2017 Asean Create @Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest (CACSC) happening at WORQ in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow.

The Create @ Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest is a series of contests for global entrepreneurs sponsored by the Alibaba Group that features the best startup entrepreneurs in the technology field, in collaboration with the famous media outlets, venture capital investors and top-level partners from around the world.

Finalists will pitch their ideas to compete for the title of Asean Division Contest Champion.

The Asean Division Champion will bag US$50,000 credit for cloud product resources from the Alibaba Cloud International Department and opportunities for the startup to be trained on scaling their businesses successfully before the World Championship Finals in Shanghai, China.

Launched in September 2016, AGROME IQ is based in Brunei, and is an agriculture business intelligence and data analytics platform that provides farmers with the information they need to make effective decisions on their farm management process.

AGROME IQ Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vanessa Teo said, “We are honoured to have been chosen as a finalist of the prestigious contest which provides us a platform to share our vision of digitising farms and helping farms grow more efficiently.

“I am excited to compete amongst other startups and to showcase a local Bruneian startup on a world stage,” she added.

The startup recently launched its second platform - SPROUT(iQ), which is an educational platform and workshop series enabling people to learn how to grow an urban farm.
