The "High Tech High Craft" pop-up shop at Siam Paragon hosts a preview of the coming shoe line

ITALIAN luxury-goods brand Salvatore Ferragamo opened a “High Tech High Craft” pop-up shop in Siam Paragon’s Hall of Fame last week with a show of its autumn-winter line of women’s footwear.
The temporary store reflects the firm’s signature style with soft, sculpted, feminine shapes and bright colours.
The new shoe collection – the first created by the design director Paul Andrew – drew appreciative applause from a star-studded audience.
While videos covered the highlights of Florence-based Ferra-gamo’s history, Andrew presented an array of footwear that’s true to founder Salvatore Ferragamo’s obsession with craftsmanship, innovation and perfect fit.
Among the Bangkok elite present for cocktails and the show were actors James Ma and Kimberley Anne Tiamsiri, singer Sarunrat “Lydia” Visutthithada and socialites Ausanee Mahagitsiri, Sopitnapa Chumpani, Patcharada Sosothikul, Phuwadee Kunplin, Supichaya Sosothikul, Manunsinee Footrakul and Sarunphak Penchat.
Architect, engineer and aesthete Salvatore Ferragamo played many roles that remain as vital to his business today as they were when it was founded.
Drawing on these skills and values, Andrew has designed a hi-tech, high-craft collection inspired by the brand’s most iconic creations.
He’s redefined contemporary style with flower-shaped heels and materials including ruthenium and copper, setting the bar higher for state-of-the-art shoemaking and adding lustre to the reputation of Italian artisanship.
Among the collection’s remarkable features are shoes in the signature black and gold, a “column heel” plucked from the late 1930s, and a reconceived “F”-shaped wedge. There’s also a sneaker in neoprene ideal for today’s global client mix.
Andrew has said his concept was simply to highlight the |fundamentals that made Salvatore such a profound and groundbreaking presence in his field.
He wanted to express those values through designs that are relevant to a new generation of strong, discerning women.
