The first match for the 2017 International Champions Cup Singapore saw the English and German champions play out a highly competitive game in front of 48,522 spectators. Fans were out in full force this evening as the English Premier League champion Chelsea FC took on Bundesliga champion FC Bayern at the National Stadium.

There was strong representation from both Clubs as Chelsea fans made their presence felt with hundreds of Club flags dotting the National Stadium. On the other hand, Bayern’s fans responded with cheers and chants as Rafinha netted a goal in the sixth minute. Captain Thomas Müller also dazzled with his footwork and ensured the opponents would have a hard time catching up by adding two goals before half time. The Blues responded with Alonso clawing one back just before half time, while Batshuayi added another goal late into the game just before full time.

“We could not have asked for a better start to the first International Champions Cup in Singapore. The match was everything we expected from two European champions. The National Stadium reverberated with cheers from the fans and we are very appreciative of the support. We look forward to the next game and another display of top quality football here in Singapore,” said Mr. Patrick Murphy, President and Chairman, Catalyst Media Group.

The next two matches will take place on July 27 and 29, featuring FC Bayern versus FC Internazionale, and Chelsea FC against FC Internazionale, respectively. Tickets to the next two matches are selling fast, and fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to avoid disappointment.
