Two friends, one very special dinner

Two friends, one very special dinner

Two old friends from New York, who have risen to great heights on Bangkok’s culinary scene, will be cooking together for the first time here on August 22 when Eat Me’s Tim Butler and Bunker’s Arnie Marcella share their memories of the Big Apple.

The two chefs will jointly produce a special 9-course dinner priced at Bt5,750-plus including wine pairings at Bunker restaurant on Bangkok’s Sathorn Soi 12 from 7 to 11.30pm.

Their dishes are inspired by their favourite after-work hangout spots in New York. The menu will include Eagle Rock oyster from Washington State; yellowtail crudo, raw fish served with a dash of Osetra caviar; one of the finest of all steak brands, Ohmi Wagyu, prepared seared tataki-style; veal stuffed into pasta pockets, agnolotti-style, and served with Parmesan cheese; mackerel char-cooked to a recipe created by the famous New York Kenka Japanese restaurant; abalone grilled and served with congee, Chinese sausage and ginger; New York strip loin served with baked truffle potato; and a black truffle ice cream.

Butler is co-owner and executive chef at Eat Me, listed every year since 2013 on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants rating, and with a highly international menu that is influenced by Asian, and especially Japanese, tastes and styles. Marcella is executive chef at Bunker, which opened in 2016 and has a menu that is neo American and influenced by the Mediterranean and parts of Asia, especially Japan.
