Ad spending drops 8% in first seven months of year

Advertising spending in the first seven months of this year dropped to Bt61.4 billion, down 8.01 per cent from the same period of last year, according to Nielsen Advertising Information yesterday.

Korea King Cooking Pan ranked as the biggest spending brand, with Bt881.97 million in the first seven months of 2017, following by Coke Soft Drink with Bt535.45 million and Toyota Pickups, Bt507.1 million.
Advertising spending in the in-store sector showed strong growth of 41.48 per cent, with a market value Bt583 million, following by cinemas, with growth of 25.75 per cent and a market value Bt3.99 billion. Transit had growth of 21.58 per cent with a market value Bt3.56 billion. The outdoor segment had growth of 14.28 per cent, and digital TV posted 2.33 per cent growth.
    Other media sectors, such as analog TV, cable/satellite, radio, newspaper, magazine, and internet, suffered falls in advertising value for the period.
