Nokia provides long-haul DCI solution to INET

Nokia is providing its DCI (data centre interconnect) solution to Internet Thailand (INET), marking one of the first long-haul DCI solutions to be provided in the Kingdom.

The Swedish telecom company’s Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing technology will connect the listed company’s two data centres in Bangkok to a site in Saraburi, Sebastien Laurent, country director at Nokia Thailand, said on Monday.
Wanchai Vach-shewadumrong, deputy managing director of INET, said that “as a leading ICT solutions provider that was growing its data-centre business, we were faced with the challenge of connecting multiple sites spread over increasing distances.
“A simple dark fibre connection proved insufficient for scaling the business, therefore we evaluated several DCI solutions in the market. Nokia’s product features and reliability, along with strong support from the local team, gives us the confidence we need to freely expand our data-centre capacity without the constraint of any interconnection bandwidth.”
