More money down drain at junta-built Rajabhakti Park

More money down drain at junta-built Rajabhakti Park

Re: “Toilets the latest scandal to plague royal Rajabhakti Park”, News, October 20.

“How can it be wrong to build toilets and shops?” asks the Army chief, as he attempts to defend the indefensible. Well, for many reasons, actually, when the average price of EACH of the 52 lavatories and five shops comes to an eye-watering Bt263 million. For the price of just one lavatory, the military could build an estate of more than 20 luxury houses with swimming pools – and multiple lavatories.
My builder recently built me a new lavatory and associated septic tank for just under Bt40,000 and very nice it is too. I’m sure if the good general asked him nicely, he would be more than happy to put in a bid which might just sneak in beneath Bt200 million per unit, and even include a month’s free supply of toilet roll.
Looking at it from another perspective, Bt15 billion would pay for a squadron of 40 much-needed Sky Dragon airships or a second vital aircraft carrier. Choices, choices... What a headache all this must be for those in charge of the military budget!
