MCOT launches revamped schedule for Family 14 channel
MCOT on Monday introduced the revamped schedule for its MCOT Family 14 television channel, with a line-up of cartoon and animation programmes, Chinese series, inspirational variety shows, and sports.
Adhering to the concept of youth and family, programmes suitable for all family members will account for 46 per cent of the channel’s content proportion, in compliance with the children’s-content requirements of the National Broadcast and Telecommunications Commission.
This is the first overhaul since the listed company acquired its children’s channel licence from the regulator in 2014, president Kematat Paladesh said on Monday.
The new programming of MCOT Family 14, which comes into effect next month, is expected to better meet the needs of audiences and increase viewership, he said, adding that the channel continues to serve all family members with TV content appropriate for audiences of all ages.
For the cartoon and animation category, parents will be able to sit back and enjoy all-time favourite shows such as “Ultraman” and “Masked Rider” with their kids.
Moreover, “Zodiac Heroes” – a Chinese fantasy TV series with stunning special effects – will be premiered on the channel, Kematat said.
The broadcast proportion of MCOT Family 14 includes 46 per cent for kids, youth, family, news and information content; 29 per cent for variety and entertainment content; and 8 per cent for sports content.
The remaining 17 per cent is time-rental content that enables MCOT to generate revenue for content development throughout the 15 years of its licence.
