Export growth estimate revised upwards
The Thai National Shippers’ Council (TNSC) has revised up its estimate of export value this year from 6 per cent growth to 8 per cent.
It also estimates growth in 2018 to be more than 5 per cent, TNSC vice chairman Visit Limluecha said yesterday.
Exports for September this year totalled US$21.81 billion (Bt723 billion), or up 12.2 per cent from August this year, he said.
However, he said the council continued to be concerned about the United States’ “anti-export” policy. As a result, the council has asked the government to speed up negotiations on a free-trade agreement with several countries to support Thailand’s export growth in the long term.
