Hollywood succumbs to hysteria of political correctness
Re: “Crisis of Image: Hollywood’s star handlers are struggling to come up with damage control strategies amid mounting outrage over sexual misconduct”, Insight, November 9.
Before reading this revealing article on the film industry and the travails of Ben Affleck, Kevin Spacey et al, who have fallen foul of the social justice warriors, I was under the erroneous impression that Oscars were awarded for acting excellence. How wrong I was! We learn that acting ability is a mere pre-qualification for the awards, which are granted according to righteousness in the actors’ off-screen lives.
And thus the prestige of another harmless institution succumbs to the relentless tide of political correctness. How very sad.
