WELFARE RECIPIENTS TO GAIN FROM NBTC PLAN

WELFARE RECIPIENTS TO GAIN FROM NBTC PLAN

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) board yesterday resolved to provide free broadband internet services to the holders of state welfare cards living in 3,920 remote villages under the watchdog's project to expand cellular and broadband to remote areas.

They will be able to enjoy the free broadband internet service for three years, beginning on August 1, 2018. The NBTC's fund for research and development for the broadcasting and telecom sectors will provide a subsidy of around Bt4.683 billion for the period.
It is estimated that around 500,000 households in those villages will benefit from the free services, with download and upload connection speeds of 30/10 megabits per second.

MOTOR EXPO’S BRISK SALES

More than 40,000 orders were placed for new cars at this year’s Thailand International Motor Expo, said organiser Kwanchai Paphatphong, adding that motorcycles drew more than 7,700 orders.
The car orders represented a rise of 22.9 per cent compared with last year’s figures.
Honda, despite not having a new product, was the top-selling brand with 6,486 orders, followed by arch rival Toyota with 5,456, thanks to sales promotions.
