Chicken exports come in at Bt100 bn this year
Thailand’s exports of chicken came to 790,000 tonnes this year with a value of Bt100 billion, up 7 per cent from 2016, according to the Thai Broiler Processing Exporters Association yesterday.
The association’s manager Kongrit Areepakorn said the bulk of the shipments went to Europe, with the rest to markets such as the US, Japan and Brazil.
He forecasts that the export value for chicken in 2018 would be around the same as this year, or lower, given the strong competition and the strength of the baht.
