The always appealing Amari

The always appealing Amari

The start of a new year is the perfect time to consider “a getaway with a difference”.

Whether it’s reliving childhood memories, reconnecting with a favourite sport, or getting an anti-ageing boost, three Amari hotels and resorts can meet your desires.

Aside from its renowned Thai-Khmer historical sites, northeastern Buri Ram province has become known as the “sport city centre”, and the Amari Buriram United is part of the action.

It’s the only football-theme hotel in Thailand.

Following breakfast at Kick-off – the hotel’s sport-theme all-day-dining restaurant – guests can embark on a cycling adventure across the city or pump up the adrenaline with a round of speed racing at Chang International Circuit.

Golf enthusiasts can tee off at Khao Kradong, a short drive from the hotel. Also not to be missed is a visit to neighbouring i-Mobile Stadium, a world-class football venue whose design inspired that of the Amari Buriram United.

Prices start from Bt1,250-plus per night.

For a dose of rejuvenation and renewal, the Amari Watergate Bangkok’s Breeze Spa offers an anti-ageing facial treatment.

The 75-minute ritual reduces wrinkles and fine lines with an intensive radiance peel while re-hydrating the skin. The skin is strengthened, smoothened and given a healthy glow.

Should something more uniquely Thai be preferred, guests could try the signature Muay Thai Massage featuring soothing Thai rhythmic pressure strokes, followed by a warm Thai herbal compress and aromatic oil application.

The price of the anti-ageing facial starts at Bt3,300-net and the Muay Thai Massage starts at Bt2,900-net.

To feel and stay young at heart, here are the Amari Johor Bahru’s recommendations for guests. Just a short stroll from the hotel, boundless fun can be found at the Angry Birds Activity Park, an indoor play park at Komtar JBCC Mall inspired by the popular video game.

A short drive from the Amari is Legoland, the first international theme park in Malaysia, providing indoor and outdoor activities to let the inner kid run wild.

Returning to the hotel, guests can enjoy a variety of Asian dishes at the Amaya Food Gallery, the hotel’s market-style restaurant inspired by the food markets of China, India, Malaysia and Thailand.

Rates at the Amari Johor Bahru start at 250 Malaysian ringgit (Bt2,005) per night.
